Mood Disorders

Mood Disorders : can be described by severe disturbances in emotions and mood—mainly  depression, it also include elation and mania. We usually experience fluctuations in our emotional states and moods, and repeatedly by events these fluctuations occurred in our lives.

Depressive disorders: Depression is the main feature among the depressive disorders. Depression is a term that, in usually refers to an intense and persistent sadness. Depression is an assorted mood state which consists of a wide range of symptoms that vary in the level of severity. Depressed people experience hopelessness, discouraged and sad. These persons lost their interest in activities of life which they once enjoyed. They frequently experience a decline in drives like sex and hunger, and often doubt their personal worth.
People feel depressed most of the day nearly every day for at least 2 weeks.
Diagnosis: weight loss or weight gain.
Sleeplessness or sleeping too much.
Psychomotor agitation.
Lose of energy.
Difficulty in concentration.
Feeling worthlessness and guilt
Sucidal thoughts.
Bipolar and Related Disorders:

These are a group of disorders in which mania is the defining feature. Mania is a situation of severe agitation and elation. While a person experience mania, he usually become very talkative, he try to take on many tasks concurrently and may behave recklessly. The bipolar disorder is mainly recognized among these disorders.

Persistent Depressive Disorder:   

The Persistent Depressive Disorder was formerly called dysthymia, occurrence of the depressed moods most of the day nearly every day for at least two years, as well as from  major depressive disorder there must be two symptoms present.  
Treatment: Madication for mood disorders include mood stabilizer and anti depressants. For thet treatment of depression  SSRI, SNRIs, Atypical antidepressants are used along with psychotherapies.
There are many types of therapies available for this psychological disorder but three of the more traditional methods used in depression include cognitive behavioraltherapyinterpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. Often, a blended approach is used.
